Building your dream home can be an exciting and challenging experience. You may find yourself overwhelmed from the choice of colors, materials, designs to the furniture. I’ve just built my first home and I really enjoyed the experience. As I am writing this blog in my newly refurbished home, replaying the memories of when I first decided to build my home and how it happened.
Here are some factors that you need to consider when building your dream home.
Location
Are you more a city person? Or you love the suburban lifestyle? The first step is to identify the location where you want to live. Make sure to meticulously scan the neighborhood, traffic, facilities available, people, and other important stuff.
Budget
The next obvious thing to consider is your budget. This part is usually a pain in the ass and can be overwhelming. Are you selling your existing place? What size of home do you need? Where will you be more comfortable? Ask yourself all these crucial questions.
Builder
I was fortunate enough to have a great team of builders who were patient with my demands and guided me through the process from start to finish. Make sure you have an understanding team who is ready to make your dream home a reality. There are 3 types of builders to consider: track builders, semi-custom builders, and custom builders.
Nature
Are you a big nature fan? Trees, topography, size, and view may be an important aspect of your dream home. You need to ensure that the environment around which you are planning to build your home is a great one.
Design
The design of the house is one of the main aspect to consider as well. I must say that was the part that I enjoyed the most. Choosing the designs and colors for the different rooms was a great experience and I also had the advice of an architect who guided me on the most appropriate designs.
Systems
Finally, the different systems you intend to implement in the house. Be it plumbing, electrical, or lighting, these systems are important and need to be implemented by experts only. And don’t forget to contribute to the environment by choosing to use energy saving bulbs and systems.
